Monthly owner dashboard
A one-page checklist of the dozen numbers an HVAC owner should look at every month, reviewed with you line by line.
Most HVAC owners know their revenue to the dollar and their profit only when the year-end statements arrive from the CPA, months after anything could be done about it. HVAC.Accountant closes that gap. Every month we read a short list of operating KPIs from your own systems, explain what moved and why, and help you decide what to change before the next busy season.
What a monthly KPI read looks like
A KPI read is a one-page summary of about a dozen numbers, each with last month, the same month last year and a target you agreed to. It takes about twenty minutes to review, and it replaces the guesswork of "it felt like a good month".
Here is a slice of what a read can show, using example figures you can check yourself:
| KPI | Last month | Target | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gross margin, repairs | 58% | 60% | Pricing and parts markup are roughly where they should be |
| Gross margin, replacements | 31% | 38% | Equipment cost or install hours have crept up |
| Revenue per paid tech-hour | $142 | $165 | Too much drive and wait time between calls |
| Agreement renewals | 71% | 80% | Members are slipping away at renewal |
| Marketing cost per booked job | $118 | $95 | One channel is pulling the blended figure up |
| Weeks of cash on hand | 5.5 | 8 | Spring will be tight unless something changes |
None of those numbers needs new software. They come from invoices, timesheets, the agreement list, ad accounts and the bank. The owner dashboard service explains how we assemble them, and the free dashboard checklist guide lets you build a first version yourself.
Why job-type numbers beat company-wide averages
A single company-wide margin hides the work that is losing money. A shop running 45% blended gross margin can be earning 60% on repairs and 30% on installs, and the right decision is completely different depending on which half of the business is growing.
Suppose replacements make up 55% of revenue at 30% margin and repairs make up 45% at 60%. Blended margin is 43.5%. If next year's growth comes mostly from installs, blended margin falls even while revenue climbs, and the owner wonders why the bank balance did not follow. Our gross margin by job type work splits the numbers so that kind of drift shows up in the month it starts.
Six areas we coach on
Each area has its own page, and the services overview explains where most owners start.
- Gross margin by job type: replacements, repairs, maintenance and add-ons, each measured on its own.
- Revenue per technician-hour: billed revenue divided by paid hours, not just the hours someone remembered to bill.
- Service-agreement economics: cost to serve, renewal rate and what a member is worth over several seasons.
- Marketing cost per booked job: spend tied to jobs that reached the schedule, by channel.
- Cash-flow seasonality planning: the twelve-month cash pattern of a heating and cooling business.
- Monthly owner dashboard: the single page that pulls everything together.
What we are, and what we are not
We are a KPI and profit-coaching service that sits next to your CPA, not in place of one. We do not keep books, prepare tax filings, issue financial statements or give tax advice. When a question touches tax, payroll remittances or how revenue should be recorded, we say so and send it back to your own CPA.
We are also not an HVAC contractor. We do not install, repair or service equipment, and we will never compete with you for a customer. Our work is your numbers and, if you want it, your marketing through the HVAC.Agency family.
Proof from our HVAC marketing work
Our published results come from marketing HVAC and heating companies, and each one is a measured number rather than a feeling. HVACDeal.ca produced 500+ leads at a 12:1 ROI. CombiBoiler.ca reached 300% ROI with 300+ monthly leads. BCWide.ca tripled its leads in 90 days. The results page explains which KPI each one illustrates and what an owner elsewhere can reasonably take from it.
Every province and territory
Seasonality, fuel mix and rebate programs change the shape of your numbers from one region to the next. A Saskatchewan furnace shop has a sharper winter peak than a Vancouver heat-pump company, and a Newfoundland installer paid through a utility program waits on a different cash cycle. The areas hub has a page for each region, with programs and regulators as of October 2026.
Who is behind HVAC.Accountant
HVAC.Accountant is part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group of companies, a Canadian business headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is led by Ali Sedighi, MBA in Technology Management, who has 17+ years in digital marketing since 2007 and has built 150+ live HVAC websites. Read more about how we work, see pricing, or call, text or email with last month's numbers. Rough figures are a perfectly good place to start.
How it works
Send last month's raw numbers
Revenue by job type, paid technician hours, agreement count, marketing spend and your bank balance. Exports from your field-service software are fine, and so are rough figures.
Get your first dashboard read
We set out the dozen KPIs in plain language, flag the two or three that look out of line, and show the arithmetic so you can check every figure.
Decide what to change first
You get a written list of next steps with a price quoted in writing for any ongoing work. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.

Frequently asked questions
What is HVAC.Accountant?
HVAC.Accountant is a Canadian KPI and profit-coaching service for HVAC and heating companies. It belongs to the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group; Ali Sedighi, MBA, runs the KPI work from the group's Vancouver, BC headquarters.
Are you a CPA firm or a bookkeeping service?
No. Despite the name, we are not accountants and we do not do bookkeeping, tax returns, audits, reviews or financial statements. Those stay with your own CPA. We read the operating numbers your systems already produce and coach you on what they mean for profit.
Do you install or service HVAC equipment?
No. We are not an HVAC contractor and we never install, repair or maintain equipment. Our work is limited to your numbers, your marketing and the decisions that follow from them.
Which KPIs do you track?
Gross margin by job type, revenue per paid technician-hour, service-agreement economics, marketing cost per booked job, cash-flow seasonality, and a short owner dashboard that pulls them together each month.
What does it cost?
KPI coaching engagements are scoped to your company and quoted in writing. If you also want us to run marketing, HVAC.Agency plans start at $2,998 a month in Canadian dollars, plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec), with a 7-day free trial and no lock-in.
Will this increase my profit?
We cannot promise that, and nobody honestly can. What we can do is make the numbers visible every month, agree targets with you, and report against them so you can judge the work yourself.
